NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE PIERCE COUNTY COUNCIL ON THE REAUTHORIZATION OF SPANAWAY LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Resolution No. R2026-116s, the Pierce County Council will hold a public hearing on April 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the Pierce County Council Chambers at 1501 Market Street, Suite 140, Tacoma, WA 98402, with remote participation available, to (a) hear objections from any person affected by the formation of the proposed lake management district, (b) afford members of the public the opportunity to comment on the proposed lake management district, and (c) afford representatives of the Departments of Fish and Wildlife, Natural Resources, and Ecology the opportunity to make presentations on and provide comments on Spanaway Lake Management District No. 1. The lake improvement and maintenance activities proposed to be financed are water quality and habitat management; invasive aquatic plant management; and maintenance, monitoring, and educational efforts related to those activities. The activities would be funded by rates and charges ranging between $100,000 and $200,000 annually, up to a maximum of $2,000,000 over a period of ten years. No revenue bonds are proposed. Consistent with the current lake management district, the boundaries will include those parcels with frontage along Spanaway Lake, and those parcels that have rights to use or enjoy parcels with frontage along Spanaway Lake. This hearing date was set by action of the Pierce County Council at its March 24, 2026, meeting.
