NO. 2026-0073 BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING IN THE MATTER OF NOTICE OF INTENT TO LEASE CERTAIN COUNTY SPACE AT THE SPOKANE COUNTY EXTENSION EDUCATION CENTER LOCATED AT 222 N. HAVANA, CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Board of County Commissioners of Spokane County, Washington (the “Board”), pursuant to RCW 36.34.160, that a public hearing will be held on: TUESDAY, MARCH 3, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. or as soon as possible thereafter in the Commissioners Hearing Room Spokane County Public Works Building 1026 West Broadway Avenue Spokane, WA 99260 The public will also be able to participate via conference call by calling 1-877-853-5257 (MEETING ID: 856 7484 5677) and/or view the public meeting via: Webinar Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85674845677 (MEETING ID: 856 7484 5677). BACKGROUND The Board is the owner of the Spokane County Extension Education Center (“Building”) located at 222 N. Havana, Spokane Valley, Washington. The Building is occupied by various county and governmental agencies. The Board can lease any county property to either public or private entities. Provided, however, prior to entering into such lease, the Board shall publish notice in a legal newspaper at least once a week for a term of three weeks and shall also post a notice of its intention to lease the property in the courthouse for the same length of time. The notice shall designate and describe the property which is proposed to be leased and shall advise of a public hearing date. Any person may appear at the public hearing and make an objection to the lease of the property which objection shall be in writing. The Board is required to accept or reject each objection. After taking action on the objections, the Board may execute a lease of the property. PURPOSE OF ABOVE SCHEDULED PUBLIC HEARING The purpose of the above scheduled public hearing is for the Board to consider the execution of the following lease of certain space to the following agency within the Spokane County Extension Education Center: Any person may appear at the date, time and place set forth herein above and submit a written objection(s) to Spokane County's lease to the above agency of the above listed space within the Spokane County Extension Education Center located at 222 North Havana, Spokane Valley, Washington. The Board will accept or reject all such objections. And, after taking action on such objections, the Board may execute the lease with the above agency. The full text of the lease for the above listed agency is available at the Offices of the Board of County Commissioners located on the first floor of the Spokane County Courthouse at West 1116 Broadway Avenue, Spokane Washington 99260. To ensure that everyone attending the public hearing has an opportunity to speak, testimony may be limited to three (3) minutes per speaker. The Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to adjust the time frame allotted to speakers as well as hearing procedures during the public hearing.
