City of Wapato Notice of Public Hearing DATE: March 2, 2026 SUBJ: Wapato School District Variance Notice of Hearing DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSAL: Applicant: Wapato School District Location: 101 West 9th Street. Wapato WA 98951 Tax Parcel No.: 191115-41001 Proposal: The Wapato School District has requested a variance to provide adequate screening of rooftop mechanical units without additional screening structures. The parapet on the North & South Elevations vary from 31' to 42' near the middle of the façade. At present the maximum building height per Wapato Municipal Code Table 5-1 is 35'. REQUEST FOR WRITTEN COMMENTS: Agencies, tribes, and the public are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed project. There is a 12-day comment period for this review. All written comments received by February 25, 2026 will be considered prior to issuing the final decision on this application.
