CITY OF RICHMOND NOTICE OF ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Primary Municipal Election will be held in the City of Richmond on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as follows: PRIMARY MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR Mayor (Four-Year Full Term) and Three Councilmembers for District 2, District 3, and District 4 (Four-Year Full Terms) The filing period to obtain Nomination Papers and other documents for the Primary Municipal Election will open on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and will close on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. If an Incumbent for Mayor and/or Councilmember of District 2, District 3, or District 4 does not file his or her nomination papers to run for office by 5:00 p.m. on March 6, 2026, the filing period will extend to Wednesday, March 11, 2026, 5:00 p.m. for non-incumbents only for the seat(s) for which the incumbent did not file candidate papers. Nomination Papers and documents distributed must be filed in the Office of the City Clerk located at 450 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 300, Richmond, California during the nomination period only. Appointments are required. Mask are highly encouraged. A nominee must be a registered voter residing within the boundaries and limits of the City of Richmond and qualified to vote for the office they are seeking at the time nomination papers are issued. Candidates may submit a candidate statement 250 words in length. Statements must be submitted in block form, standard upper and lower case words. The City Clerk shall submit a certificate of facts to the City Council (1) if no one or only one candidate files for any office which is elected on a city wide basis, or (2) if no one or only one candidate files for any office which is elected from or by a city legislative district, or (3) if the number of persons filing for offices elected at large does not exceed the number of seats to be filled. The City Council shall adopt one of the courses of action outlined in Elections Code Section 10229.
