CITY OF ORANGENOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGCONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED CITY CHARTER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Orange will hold a Public Hearing pursuant to California Government Code § 34458(b) at a Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. , or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the City Council Chamber, 300 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange to consider the following item: CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED CITY CHARTERIn accordance with California Government Code § 34458, the City Council will: 1) conduct a public hearing to review and discuss the proposed City Charter; 2) receive community comments and suggestions regarding the proposed charter and its potential impacts on the governance of the City; 3) provide direction regarding the process for placing a City Charter measure on a future municipal election ballot.This hearing is the first of at least two public hearings required by California Government Code § 34458 prior to the City Council taking action to submit the proposed charter to the voters.The proposed Charter will be made available for public review at the City Clerk’s Office at 300 E. Chapman Avenue, and on the City’s website at www.cityoforange.org at least 72 hours before the scheduled public hearing. FURTHER INFORMATION: All interested persons may be heard on any relevant matter relating to the proposed City Charter by mail, eComment, or in-person as set forth in the May 12, 2026, City Council agenda.
