Public notice for a new workforce development center in Eustis, Florida.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance for Lake-Sumter State College to construct a Eustis Workforce Development Center: CDL & Lineman Training in Eustis, Lake County, Florida. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), EDA is conducting an assessment of the potential of the proposed project to affect the environment and/or historic properties. Notice is hereby given that the project is proposed to be located in, or may affect, a floodplain and/or wetland as defined by Executive Order (EO) 11988 and/or EO 11990.

The project funding is to construct the Eustis Education and Training Center (EETC), a new workforce training facility for Lake-Sumter State College. The project will be located at the southwest corner of the intersection of East County Road 44 and Hicks Ditch Road in Eustis, Florida (Lake County) on a 4-acre parcel. The project includes the construction of a 4,428-square-foot, one-story instructional facility and a 240-by-260-foot paved Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training pad. The facility will house two large training spaces, administrative offices, four restrooms, mechanical and utility space, and secure storage. The CDL pad will meet all federal and state licensure testing specifications, including appropriate markings, lighting, and safety features. In addition, there will be a dedicated outdoor space for poles for the Lineworker program.
