NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ADOPT ORDINANCE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on April 7, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. CST, or soon thereafter in the County Commissioners Chambers located on the first floor of the Okaloosa County Courthouse located at 101 East James Lee Blvd. Crestview, FL 32536, the Board of County Commissioners will consider adopting an ordinance repealing and replacing Article VI of Chapter 12 of the Code of Laws and Ordinances of Okaloosa County, Florida, pertaining to the regulation of businesses engaged in vehicle wrecker and towing services, the title of said proposed ordinance being: AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REPLACING ARTICLE VI, WRECKER AND TOWING SERVICES, OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE OKALOOSA COUNTY CODE, REMOVING PROVISIONS THAT ARE UNNECESSARY OR REDUNDANT WITH THE FLORIDA STATUTES; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION IN THE COUNTY CODE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND REPEAL OF CONFLICTING PROVISIONS. At the same meeting the Board of County Commissioners shall also consider a Resolution in accordance with section 125.0103, Florida Statutes, revising the schedule of fees for vehicle towing and related services as currently authorized pursuant to Okaloosa County Resolution 15-98; the title of said proposed Resolution being: A RESOLUTION OF THE OKALOOSA COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AMENDING RESOLUTION 15-98; PROVIDING FOR MAXIMUM FEES FOR NON-CONSENSUAL AND PRIVATE PROPERTY TOWING AND STORAGE; PROVIDING FOR MAXIMUM FEES OF VEHICLES; PROVIDING FOR MAXIMUM FEES FOR REMOBILIZATION ON PRIVATE PROPERTY; PROVIDING FOR REPEALER; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ALL INTERESTED PERSONS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND AND BE HEARD. The proposed ordinance and resolution may be inspected by the public at the Offices of the County Commission located at Suite 100, Okaloosa County Administrative Building, 1250 N. Eglin Parkway, Shalimar, Florida 32579 and at Suite 302, 302 N. Wilson Street, Crestview, Florida 32536. Those offices can be contacted by telephone at 850-651-7105. If any person decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at these hearings, such person will need a record of the proceeding and may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. Okaloosa County adheres to the Americans With Disabilities Act and will make reasonable modifications for access to these hearings upon request. Requests may be made to the County Commission Offices at the above address and must be made at least 48 hours in advance of the hearings to provide the requested service.
