FRANKLIN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS JOB ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION TITLE: Paramedic CLOSING DATE: March 18, by 4:30 p.m. Annual Salary: Pay Grade (6), Annualized salary $74,447.36/Year with built-in overtime, full-time BENEFITS: FRS retirement, Health, Life and Dental Insurance MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of field EMS experience preferred; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Special Qualifications: Current State of Florida Paramedic certification; current BLS and ACLS certifications; valid Florida drivers license with acceptable driving record; EVOC required prior to employment or by the end of orientation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expert knowledge of ALS interventions, medications, and protocols. Ability to lead patient care teams with confidence and professionalism. Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues. Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with patient care documentation systems. POSITION DUTIES: The Paramedic performs highly responsible, skilled emergency medical services by providing advanced life support (ALS) care in pre-hospital and interfacility settings. The Paramedic is the team leader in patient care, overseeing EMTs and directing all aspects of treatment during emergencies. Paramedics serve as role models for clinical excellence, compassion, and professionalism. The Paramedic responds to emergency and non-emergency calls, conducting advanced patient assessment and formulating treatment plans, administers medications, starts IVs, manages advanced airways, performs defibrillation/cardioversion, and interprets EKGs, directs EMTs in patient care and scene management, provides patient advocacy, reassuring patients and families while communicating treatment decisions, documents all interventions in the electronic patient care reporting system coordinates with hospital staff during patient transfers and provides complete hand-off reports, maintains ambulance readiness through equipment checks, cleaning, and restocking, assists in public safety events, education, and disaster preparedness exercises, performs other related job duties as assigned.
