FRANKLIN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS JOB ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION TITLE: EMT CLOSING DATE: March 18, by 4:30 p.m. Annual Salary: Pay Grade (4), Annualized salary $67,591.68/Year with built-in overtime, full-time BENEFITS: FRS retirement, Health, Life and Dental Insurance MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of EMS or healthcare experience preferred; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Special Qualifications: Current State of Florida EMT certification; current BLS certification; valid Florida drivers license with acceptable driving record; EVOC required prior to start or within two weeks of beginning orientation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: knowledge of emergency medical care procedures and BLS techniques. Ability to perform patient care while under stress and in adverse conditions. Skill in using medical equipment such as stretchers, suction devices, AEDs, and oxygen delivery systems. Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and coworkers. Strong teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. POSITION DUTIES: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) performs skilled and compassionate emergency medical services work providing basic life support (BLS) to ill or injured people. EMTs operate as integral members of the Franklin County EMS response team and are often the first point of patient contact, delivering lifesaving care and reassurance under stressful conditions. The role emphasizes teamwork, professionalism, and community trust. The EMT responds promptly to emergency calls, assessing the nature and severity of medical or traumatic emergencies, provides patient care including CPR, bleeding control, oxygen administration, splinting, and defibrillation with an AED, assists Paramedics with patient care as directed, safely operates and navigates emergency vehicles in compliance with county and state driving standards, conducts pre- and post-shift inspections of ambulances, equipment, and supplies, restocking as necessary, communicates effectively with hospitals, dispatch, law enforcement, and fire personnel, maintains accurate patient care reports, including electronic documentation, educates patients and families on medical conditions and transport procedures, participates in training, continuing education, and community outreach activities, performs other related job duties as assigned.
