City of Tavares NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Tavares City Council will consider Ordinance 2026-03, Second Reading, on April 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Tavares City Hall, City Council Chambers, 201 E. Main Street, Tavares, FL 32778. ORDINANCE 2026-03 AN ORDINANCE PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAVARES, FLORIDA; AMENDING SECTION 3.03 OF THE CHARTER PERTAINING TO TERMS OF OFFICE OF CITY COUNCILMEMBERS; AMENDING SECTION 10.04 OF THE CHARTER PERTAINING TO MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR FOUR (4) YEAR TERMS OF OFFICE FOR CITY COUNCILMEMBERS; PROVIDING THAT MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS SHALL BE HELD EVERY TWO (2) YEARS IN EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS CONSISTENT WITH STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION CYCLES; PROVIDING TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS ESTABLISHING STAGGERED TERMS; PROVIDING FOR A REFERENDUM; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
