Sunday, May 3, 2026 NOTICE OF INTENDED ACTION PURSUANT TO 120.54(3)(a)(1), Fla. Stat. SCHOOL BOARD POLICY The School Board of Orange County, Florida (Board) will hold a public hearing on the following revised Board policy: IA Student Progression Plan, June 16, 2026, at the Educational Leadership Center (ELC), located at 445 West Amelia Street, Orlando, FL 32801. The full text of the proposed changes to the above referenced Board policy shall be available for viewing on the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) website at: https://www.ocps.net/89435_3 Copies may be obtained at the ELC between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the Public Information Office. Pursuant to 120.54(3)(c)(1), Fla. Stat., an affected person may request a hearing within 21 days of the date of this publication of this notice to present evidence and argument on all issues under consideration. If a request for a hearing is submitted, the School Board shall schedule a public hearing on the rule. The School Board shall ensure that staff is available to explain the proposal and to respond to comments regarding the rule if a hearing is requested. Written comments for the policy as well as requests for a hearing may be submitted within 21 days of the date of this notice to Joanne L. Montalvo, Legal Services, ELC-9, 445 West Amelia Street, Orlando, FL 32801. E-mail address: joanne.montalvo@ocps.net. Any material pertinent to the issues under consideration submitted to the School Board within 21 days after the date of publication of the notice or submitted to the School Board between the date of publication of the notice and the end of the final public hearing shall be considered by the School Board and made a part of the record of the rulemaking proceeding. Summary Applicable to Policy: Revisions to existing language include content, formatting, and terminology edits consistent with statutory language. Summary Applicable to Policy Regarding School Board Statement of Estimated Regulatory Cost: None. Any person who wishes to provide the School Board with information regarding the statement of estimated regulatory costs or to provide a proposal for a lower regulatory alternative as provided in 120.541(1), Fla. Stat. must do so within 21 days after publication of this notice. The School Board will conduct rule development via a work session on May 19, 2026. The work session will be advertised on the School Boards Boarddocs website found at https://go.boarddocs.com/fla/orcpsfl/Board.nsf/Public as well as its Meeting Notices webpage located at https://www.ocps.net/meetings-agendas-minutes-home. POLICY IA Student Progression Plan Purpose and Effect: Proposed revisions to Policy IA/Student Progression Plan include edits to comply with legislative changes, state statutes, and State Board of Education Rules.
