NOTICE OF PROPOSED POLLING LOCATION CHANGE – 8A GAINES ELEMENTARY Due to the unavailability of the current polling place, and pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-265, the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections and Voter Registration proposes a temporary change to the Election Day polling place for voters in Precinct 8A, currently Gaines Elementary School, located at 900 Gaines School Road, Athens, GA 30605, to Hilsman Middle School, 870 Gaines School Road, Athens, GA 30605 for the May 19, 2026, General Primary and June 16, 2026, General Primary Runoff. Athens-Clarke County voting districts will not change as a part of the process, only the polling place at which voters in Precinct 8A vote in-person on Election Day. The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections & Voter Registration will consider public input regarding the proposed polling place change at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, 4:30 PM, at the Athens-Clarke County Facilities and Landscape Building, 2555 Lexington Road in Athens. Any comments on the proposed change may also be made in writing, directed to the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections and Voter Registration, PO Box 1828, Athens, GA 30603. This change in polling place will become effective following the second publication of this notice, unless otherwise determined by the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections & Voter Registration after consideration of public comment. All voters affected by a change in polling place shall be issued a new voter precinct card in the mail pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-226(e).
