PUBLIC NOTICE The USDA Forest Service Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is making available 9 parcels (all acres are estimates); Parcel 1 is 425 acres, Parcel 2 is 548 acres, Parcel 3 is 154 acres, Parcel 4 is 218 acres, Parcel 5 is 42 acres, Parcel 6 is 244 acres, Parcel 7 is 45 acres, Parcel 8 is 159 acres, and Parcel 9 is 77 acres for corn, soybean and winter wheat crop production using the no-till method. Interested bidders may call Len Kring at (815) 423-2148 for more information. A detailed prospectus will be posted on-line at https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/midewin/passes-permits. Lump sum sealed bids with a $1,000.00 bid deposit (cashier's check or money order) for each bid/parcel must be received at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Headquarters, 30239 South State Route 53, Wilmington, IL 60481 prior to bid opening on March 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The successful bidder will be issued a Special Use Permit for two growing seasons.
