ComEd Grid Reliability Infrastructure Transformation (GRIT) Project On February 26, 2026, ComEd filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission an expedited request for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Need for its proposed Grid Reliability Infrastructure Transformation (GRIT) Project. GRIT involves the construction of new 138kV underground electrical transmission lines and a new substation in the area northwest and west of Chicago O'Hare International Airport, including portions of Wood Dale, Bensenville, Itasca, and Elk Grove Village.
