Grid Reliability Infrastructure Transformation (GRIT) Project Project Map Underground Electrical Transmission Candidate Route Options CONNECT WITH THE PROJECT TEAM FOLLOW THE APPLICATION Our application is filed under ICC docket number 26-0156. On February 26, 2026, ComEd filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission an expedited request for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Need for its proposed Grid Reliability Infrastructure Transformation (GRIT) Project. GRIT involves the construction of new 138kV underground electrical transmission lines and a new substation in the area northwest and west of Chicago O'Hare International Airport, including portions of Wood Dale, Bensenville, Itasca, and Elk Grove Village. The GRIT Project will enhance the reliability and efficiency of the ComEd electric system, and enable service to new and existing customers in the Project area.
