New parking restrictions on Fisher Avenue, Hops Lane, and Walter Place in Secaucus.

ORDINANCE NO. 2026-8
 
AN ORDINANCE OF
THE TOWN OF SECAUCUS, NEW JERSEY
 
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 127 OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF SECAUCUS ENTITLED “VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC” TO ADD PROHIBITED PARKING LOCATIONS ON FISHER AVENUE, HOPS LANE AND WALTER PLACE
 
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council recognize that the safety of all motorists, passengers, pedestrians, residents and visitors; and
 
WHEREAS, the Town enacted §127-1 et seq. to alleviate dangerous situations on the Town's streets, promote safe passage for motorists and vehicles, to address traffic flow, and specify penalties for violations; and
 
WHEREAS, upon the review and recommendation of the Secaucus Police Department's Traffic Division, Department of Public Works, and the Town Engineering Department, the Mayor and Council have determined that updates to the Ordinance to prohibit parking in different sections of Town are warranted in the interest of public safety to allow safe passage on curvatures and the safe turning of vehicles and emergency apparatus.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Secaucus, County of Hudson, State of New Jersey, as follows:
 
1. Chapter 127 entitled “Vehicles and Traffic,” §127-23” “Schedule I: No Parking” of the Code of the Town of Secaucus be, and is hereby amended and supplemented to read as follows: (additions are indicated in bold, deletions are indicated by strikethroughs):
 
§ 127-23. Schedule I: No Parking.
 
In accordance with the provisions of § 127-7, no person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of the following described streets or parts of streets:

Allan Terrace    South             From the intersection of Stonewall Lane and to
                                                   Allan Terrace (easternmost cross street) in a 
                                                    northwesterly direction for a distance of
                                                    four hundred and ninety-five (495) feet.
 
2. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
 
3. If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause or provision of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to that section, subdivision, clause or provision so adjudged and the remainder of this Ordinance shall be deemed to be valid and effective.
 
4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage and publication in accordance with law.
 
IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED, that the remainder of this Chapter 127 of the Code of the Town of Secaucus shall remain in full force and effect.
 
NOTICE
 
Notice is hereby given that the foregoing proposed ordinance was introduced and passed on first reading at a meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Secaucus in the County of Hudson, New Jersey, on the 10th day of February, 2026 and that said ordinance will be taken up for further consideration for final passage at a meeting of said Mayor and Council to be held in the Municipal Government Center, 1203 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, New Jersey, on the 10th day of March, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as said matter can be reached, at which time and place all persons who may be interested therein will be given the opportunity to be heard concerning the same.
 
A copy of this ordinance has been posted on the bulletin board upon which public notices are customarily posted in the Secaucus Municipal Government Center and a copy is available up to and including the time of such meeting to the public of the town, who shall request such copies, at the office of the Town Clerk in said Municipal Government Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.
