PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC HEARING FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE ADDITION OF PREDOMINANTLY VIABLE AGRICULTURAL LAND TO AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT NO. 1 AND AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT NO. 2 IN TOMPKINS COUNTY. A public hearing will be held to consider the requests for inclusion of predominantly agricultural land into Tompkins County Agricultural Districts and recommendations of the county agricultural and farmland protection board. Tompkins County has two (2) New York State certified agriculture districts: District 1 is on the east side of Cayuga Lake and District 2 is on the west side of Cayuga Lake. Requests from four property owners for inclusion of predominantly viable agricultural land have been filed with the county legislative body. Applications for inclusion have been received for the following parcels: 1) Tax Parcel: 502403 3.-1-10, Street Address: 37 Railroad Street, Freeville, NY; 2) Tax Parcel: 502403 3.-2-8.1, Street Address: Railroad Street, Freeville, NY; 3) Tax Parcel: 502403 3.-2-14, Street Address: Railroad Street, Freeville, NY; 4) Tax Parcel: 502200 14.-1-12.22, Street Address: 2016 Danby Road, Danby, NY; 5) Tax Parcel: 502200 1.-1-12.7, Street Address: King Road W, Danby, NY; and 6) Tax Parcel: 503089 37.-1-27.1, Street Address: 331 King Road W, Ithaca, NY. A map of the applications submitted for District addition can be viewed on the Tompkins County Planning web site: https://www.tompkinscountyny.gov/All-Departments/Planning-and-Sustainability/Natural-Resources-and-Agriculture. The public may provide written comments on proposed changes to the District to the Tompkins County Legislature at 121 East Court Street, Ithaca, NY 14850 or via email at https://tompkinscountyny.gov/legislature until May 19, 2026. Comments may also be made on May 19, 2026 at the 5:30PM meeting of the Tompkins County Legislature in person or via Zoom.
