NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING LOCKPORT CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT LOCKPORT, NIAGARA COUNTY NEW YORK PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Board of Trustees of the Lockport Public Library, Lockport, Niagara County, New York will conduct a special district meeting of the qualified voters residing in the Lockport City School District of the City of Lockport and portions of the towns of Lockport, Cambria, and Pendleton, Niagara County, New York to be held at the Lockport Public Library, 23 East Avenue, Lockport, New York, in said School District, on April 9, 2026 at 9 A.M., prevailing time, for the purpose of conducting a vote by ballot upon the annual appropriation of the amount of money required to meet necessary expenditures for the fiscal year from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and to authorize the tax levy necessary to raise that amount of money for the expenditures of the Lockport Public Library. Polls for the purpose of voting will be kept open to qualified voters residing in the Lockport City School District between the hours of 9 A.M. and 8 P.M., prevailing time, and as much longer as may be necessary for the voters then present to cast their ballots on the following proposition: PROPOSITION: Shall the Board of Education of Lockport City School District of Lockport, Niagara County, New York appropriate and pay the amount of money required for the support and maintenance of the Lockport Public Library for the year from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 with moneys to be raised by tax levy upon the taxable property of said School District, pursuant to Section 259 of the Education Law? NOTICE is also given that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for library purposes may be obtained by any taxpayer in the Lockport City School District during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the special meeting, except Sundays or holidays, at the library between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., prevailing time, Monday through Saturday. NOTICE is also given that a public meeting will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. prevailing time, at the Lockport Public Library, 23 East Avenue, Lockport, Niagara County, New York, for transaction of such business as is authorized by the Education Law. Any qualified voter of the School District who resides in the Lockport City School District, whose name appears on the Niagara County voter registration lists as transmitted to the Lockport Public Library by the Niagara County Board of Elections will be entitled to vote. Said register will be filed in the Office of the Director of the Library, where said register will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the Lockport City School District between the hours of 10 A.M. and 5 P.M., prevailing time, on each of the five (5) days prior to the date set for said special district vote, except Sundays. NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that voting will be by paper ballot and by absentee ballot, that absentee ballots shall be made available in accordance with the provisions of Section 2018-a of the Education Law. Applications for such absentee ballots may be applied for at the Library, 23 East Avenue, Lockport, New York. Such application must be received by the Library Director at least 10 (ten) days before the date of the vote, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before such vote, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter at the time of application. No absentee voter's ballot shall be canvassed, unless it shall have been received in the office of the Library Director not later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on the day of the election. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the said office of the Library Director between the hours of 10 A.M. and 5 P.M., prevailing time, Monday through Saturday, up to and including the day set for the vote, and such list will also be posted at the polling place at the vote on the proposition.
