LEGAL NOTICE SAUGERTIES CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT CANDIDATE PETITIONS for BOARD OF EDUCA- TION Petition forms are avail- able beginning March 20, 2026 to nominate candidates for the Sau- gerties Central School District Board of Edu- cation. The forms may be picked up from the Superintendent's Of- fice in the Hildebrandt Building behind the Jr./Sr. High School on Washington Avenue Ex- tension between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each business day. Thirty One (31) signatures of qualified voters are re- quired; however, it is recommended that can- didates get at least 50 signatures in case some signatures verified. cannot - be To qualify for member- ship on the school board an individual: Must be able to read and write. Must be a qualified voter of the District; i.e., a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years or older, and not a con- victed felon or adjudged an incompetent. Must be and have been a resident of the District for at least 30 days prior to the election, but need not be a taxpayer. May not have been re- moved from any school district office within the preceding one year. May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family. May not be a current employee of the school board. May not simultane- ously hold another in- compatible public of- fice. There are four (4) seats to be filled in the May 19, 2026 election, which are, three (3) three-year terms, that are cur- rently held by Jeffrey Riozzi, Carole Kelder and Timothy Wells plus one (1) for a remainder term commencing May 20, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2028 due to a vacancy. Petitions are due on or before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, to the District Clerk in the Superinten- dent's Office.
