LEGAL NOTICE OF ANNUAL PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGET, ANNUAL MEETING, SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION AND VOTE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Edu- cation of the Saugerties Central School District, Ulster County, New York, will hold the Annual Pub- lic Hearing on the Budget at the High School Me- dia Center, Saugerties Junior/Senior High School, Washington Avenue Extension, Saugerties, New York, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM, for the purpose of presenting the budget document for the 2026-2027 school year. The budget hearing notice will be listed on the district's website and will indicate if the Board has chosen to hold the budget hearing virtually in accordance with any relevant Executive Orders effective at that time. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Annual Meet- ing, School District Election and Vote of the Sau- gerties Central School District shall be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, when the polls at the polling place hereinafter listed will be open for the pur- pose of voting by voting machine. To elect four (4) members to the Board of Educa- tion. Three for three (3) year terms commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029; and one for a remainder term commencing May 20, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2028 due to a vacancy. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the following per- sons shall be entitled to vote at the Annual School District Election and Vote, to be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, without further registration: Any person registered with the Ulster County Board of Elections. Any qualified voter. Voters are qualified if they are: (a) a U.S. citizen; (b) at least 18 years old; (c) a resident of the dis- trict for at least thirty days prior to May 19, 2026 and (d) not otherwise ineligible to vote under Sec- tion 5-106 of the Election Law. The register will be on file in the Office of the Dis- trict Clerk of the Saugerties School District and will be available in the Superintendent's Office lo- cated in the Hildebrandt Building (directly behind the high school), Washington Avenue Extension, Saugerties, New York, and will be open for inspec- tion by any qualified voter of the District week- days during regular District Office working hours and on the Saturday prior to the annual meeting by advance appointment. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the polling place for the Annual School District Election and Vote on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, shall be at the SAUGERTIES JR. HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that petitions for nom- inating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk, by 5:00 p.m. no later than the thirtieth day preceding the Annual School District Election and Vote (Monday, April 20, 2026). Such petitions must be signed by at least 31 qualified voters of the Dis- trict, must state the name and residence address of the candidate and the name and residence of each signer. Petition forms may be picked up at the Office of the District Clerk during regular busi- ness hours, except Saturday, Sunday and holi- days. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for School District purposes during the 2026-27 school year (the Budget), as prepared by the Board of Education, may be obtained on the District's website, and by any resident of the District during business hours, beginning May 5, 2026, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at each of the following schoolhouses and the Ad- ministration Building, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM: Saugerties Junior-Senior High School, Washing- ton Avenue Extension, Saugerties Grant D. Morse Elementary School, Blue Moun- tain, Saugerties Riccardi Ĕlementary School, Glasco Cahill Elementary School, Main Street and Wash- ington Avenue, Saugerties NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots and early mail voting may be obtained from the Office of the District Clerk of the Saugerties Central School District in the Su- perintendent's Office located in the Hildebrandt Building (directly behind the high school), Wash- ington Avenue Extension. Applications for absen- tee ballots and early mail voting must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days prior to the Annual School District Election and Vote (by May 12, 2026) if the ballot is to be mailed, or the day before the Annual School District Election and Vote (May 18, 2026) if the ballot will be picked up personally by the voter. All qualified voters who meet the criteria for "permanently disabled" and are so certified by the Ulster County Board of Elections will receive absentee ballots by mail. Qualified military voters may request a military absentee ballot application from the District Clerk between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and may indicate their preference to receive a military absentee ballot application via mail, facsimile or electronic mail. Absentee ballots for military voters shall be administered in accordance with the provisions of Section 2018-d of the Education Law and Part 122 of the Commissioner's Regulations. Absentee and early mail ballots must be received in the Office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM on the day of the Annual School District Election and Vote. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots and early mail ballots have been issued will be avail- able for inspection to qualified voters of the Dis- trict at the Office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the Annual School District Election and Vote, except Sundays, during regular office hours, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays and Saturday by advanced appointment, until the day of the Annual School District Election and Vote.
