PUTNAM COUNTY PUBLIC NOTICE MS4 Mapping Program Walden Environmental Engineering, working for the Town of Philipstown, is carrying out the mapping of storm sewer system components within the Town’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4), mainly in the Continental Village area of the Town (see map below). The purpose of this work is to locate, inspect, and record the conditions of existing stormwater infrastructure under the jurisdiction of the Town. Infrastructure such as catch basins, man holes, storm sewer piping, pipe outlets, and stormwater management practices will be mapped during the period of March 2026 potentially into the early summer. During this time, you may see Walden/ other Town personnel in your neighborhood completing the required infrastructure mapping. Please be mindful of these personnel as they will be working in the roadway right-of-ways, and may need to access your property in order to map some of the above-mentioned components. This mapping is required by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation under the current General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems Permit, GP-0-24-001. The intent of this mapping is to aid in community planning, help identify water quality improvement projects, protect public health from surface water contamination, and help to inform Town Code and Zoning updates, in addition to many other benefits. It is not necessary for you to be home while the mapping is being conducted. Weather conditions (heavy rain) or weekends could possibly shift surveying work beyond the 72-hour time frame. Thank you for your cooperation in this most worthwhile effort. If you have any questions or concerns, please email: stormwater@philipstown.com
