LEGAL NOTICE





NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on the 2nd day of February 2026, the Town Board of the Town of Shelter Island duly adopted a resolution setting a public hearing to be heard on the 23rd day of February 2026 at the Shelter Island Town Hall, 38 North Ferry Road, Shelter Island, New York. Town Board meetings are also available via ZOOM.

1. At 6:00 PM, or as soon thereafter, prevailing time, on the proposed Local Law entitled “A Local Law Amending Chapter 8 – Code of Ethics.” The full text of the Local Law is available in the Town Clerk’s office and online. The summary of which is that the purpose of this local law is to improve the current Code of Ethics, within the Town Code, protect the interest of the Town from unethical activity and providing its employees with clear guidance in performing their duties. This law will serve to protect against potential Town Employee and Officer misconduct and protect the innocent Employee and Officer from aspersions.
