NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING AND ANNUAL MEETING AND VOTE OF THE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF JAMESTOWN
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual School District Meeting and Vote (the "Annual Vote") of the City School District of the City of Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York (the "District") will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 9:00 p.m. for the purposes of: (i) electing three (3) members of the Board of Education (the "Board"); (ii) voting on the 2026-2027 school budget; (iii) voting on a proposition to sell a parcel of land; (iv)voting on a proposition to increase the James Prendergast Library tax levy; and (v) transacting such other business as may be authorized by law.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE The polls will be open in each of the school election districts, which have been established by resolution of the Board, as follows:
The voting location associated with the JAMESTOWN CITY FIRST WARD and SECOND WARD is at the Washington Middle School.

PROPOSITION NO. 2 (SALE OF 240 HARRISON STREET)
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
RESOLVED, that the City School District of the City of Jamestown, New York (the "District") Board of Education (the "Board") is hereby authorized to sell, with the City of Jamestown, New York (District, Board and City of Jamestown, collectively, the "Sellers"), that certain parcel of real property with improvements thereon situated in the City of Jamestown, County of Chautauqua and State of New York located at 240 Harrison Street (SBL No. 387.50- 1-10) (the "Property") to Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (the "Purchaser") substantially as described in the proposed purchase and sale agreement between the Sellers and Purchaser which is available for public inspection in the offices of the District Clerk, all at a negotiated overall sale price of Seventy-Three Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($73,800.00) (subject to such adjustments as may be approved by District officials prior to closing). NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that an Environmental Assessment Form has been completed for the property sale that is the subject of Proposition No. 2 above, which is an Unlisted action under the State Environmental Quality Review Act ("SEQRA"), a thorough review of such property sale's potential environmental impacts has been undertaken, it has been found that such property sale will not result in a significant adverse impact on the environment, and a reasoned elaboration of the SEQRA review and findings has been provided in a Negative Declaration.
PROPOSITION NO. 3 (AUTHORIZATION OF THE PRENDERGAST LIBRARY ASSOCIATION FUNDING REQUEST)
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
RESOLVED, that pursuant to Education Law, Section 259, the Board of Education of the Jamestown City School District (the “District”) is authorized to levy and collect an annual tax year after year, separate and apart from the annual District Budget, in the amount of $420,000 for the purpose of funding the operating budget of the James Prendergast Library Association. This appropriated amount shall be the annual appropriation until thereafter modified by a future vote of the electors of the District.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that to be eligible to vote at the Annual Vote, residents of the District must be properly registered. A person is properly registered if the person has registered for general election purposes or has registered for school election purposes during the four calendar years prior to the year in which the register is being prepared. Alternately, if such voters have a New York State Driver's license, they may register to vote electronically through the Department of Motor Vehicles at https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registrationapplication. All other persons who wish to vote must present themselves for personal registration.
