Legal Notices Notice of Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting and Vote of the City School District of the City of Dunkirk Notice is hereby given that the Annual School District Meeting and Vote (the “Annual Vote”) of the City School District of the City of Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, New York (the “District”), will be held on Tuesday May 19, 2026 from 12:00 P.M. prevailing time to 9:00 P.M. prevailing time, at the Dunkirk High School Auxiliary Gymnasium, 620 Marauder Drive, Dunkirk, New York, for the purposes of: voting on the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, electing three (3) members of the Board of Education of the District (the “Board”); and transacting such other business as is authorized by law. And further notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held for the qualified voters of the District at the Reverend Roosevelt Haynes Large Group Instruction and Conference Room, 75 West Sixth Street, Dunkirk, New York, on May 5, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. prevailing time, for the transaction of business as authorized by the Education Law. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 P.M. prevailing time on May 19, 2026. And further notice is hereby given that a list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the office of the District Clerk on and after May 12, 2026 between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on weekdays prior to the day set for the Annual Meeting Vote and on May 19, 2026, the day set for the Annual Vote. Any qualified voter then present in the polling place may object to the voting of the absentee ballot upon by making his/her challenge and the reasons therefore known to the Inspectors of Election before the close of polls. And further notice is hereby given that military voters who are not currently registered to vote may request a military voter registration application from the District Clerk. Completed military registration application forms must be received in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 P.M. on May 5, 2026. A military voter may indicate his or her preference for receiving the registration application by mail, facsimile, or electronic mail. And further notice is hereby given that military voters who are registered voters of the District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 P.M. prevailing time on May 5, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, a military voter may indicate his or her preference for receiving the military application or ballot by mail, facsimile, or electronic mail. And further notice is hereby given that applications for early mail ballots may be obtained between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. prevailing time, at the office of the District Clerk, located at 620 Marauder Drive, Dunkirk, New York 14048. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than the thirtieth (30th) day before the Annual Vote and no later than seven (7) days before the Annual Vote, if the early mail ballot is to be mailed to the applicant, and no later than the day before the Annual Vote, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. And further notice is hereby given that a list of all persons to whom early mail ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the Annual Vote except Saturday and Sunday, and at the polling place on the date of the Annual Vote, in accordance with provisions of the New York State Education Law and the applicable provisions of the New York State Election Law.
