ESSEX COUNTY PUBLIC NOTICE Annual Review of the Agricultural District, Public Hearings Set Please take notice that Essex County is conducting the Annual Review of the Agricultural District as required under New York State Agricultural and Markets Law. Maps of the district are available online: https://essex-gis.co.essex.ny.us/ [https://essex-gis.co.essex.ny.us/] The 30-day annual review period has already been announced and will run from May 1st, 2026 through May 30, 2026. To request the addition of property from the District, a landowner or municipality must submit a form to the Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board. Forms may be obtained by calling (518) 962-4810 x409, by emailing be downloaded at the following ct693@cornell.edu, may link: https://essex.cce.cornell.edu/agriculture/farmland-protection. All forms must be received or postmarked no later than May 30, 2026. A public hearing will be scheduled to give the public the opportunity to comment on the Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board's recommendation to the Board of Legislators on the requested modifications. The hearing will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in the Essex County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 7551 Court Street, Elizabethtown, NY 12932. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County staff will present an overview of the Agricultural District program; review the requested modifications to each district; discuss the Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board's recommendation on the proposed changes; and accept public comments on the recommendation. All are welcome to attend and comment.
