Notice of Annual School District Meeting
Lancaster Central School District Lancaster, New York
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual meeting and election of the Lancaster Central School District, Erie County, New York ("District"), will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the Lancaster High School, North Entrance, Java Gym, located at One Forton Drive, Lancaster, New York, 14086 for the purposes of voting, by voting machine, on (1) the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year; (2) a proposition involving the expenditure of funds from the District's School Bus Reserve Fund for the acquisition of school buses; and electing three at large members of the Board of Education. The three candidates who receive the highest number of votes will be elected to three (3) year terms commencing on July 1, 2026 and terminating on June 30, 2029.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board of Education will hold a public hearing to present the budget of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures for the 2026-2027 school year for school purposes on May 11, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lancaster High School Auditorium, located at One Forton Drive, Lancaster, New York, 14086.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the 2026-2027 school year for school purposes will be available on the District's website at www.lancasterschools.org, or upon request, in each school building in the District to any District resident beginning on May 5, 2026 through and including May 19, 2026, except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition. Each petition shall be filed with the District Clerk, located at 177 Central Avenue, Lancaster, New York, 14086, shall be signed by at least thirty-four (34) qualified voters of the District, shall state the residence of each signer and shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Each petition must be filed in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., not later than April 20, 2026.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the voting on the budget and other propositions will consist of voting on the following propositions, as well as other such matters as may be lawfully presented at the meeting:

Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Lancaster Central School District is hereby authorized to expend $926,150 from the District's existing School Bus Reserve Fund to purchase five (5) 65-passenger school buses for use by the District in its transportation program.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for early mail and absentee ballots may be obtained during school business hours at the office of the District Clerk. Completed applications must be received by the office of the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the District Vote (May 12, 2026) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on the day before the District Vote (May 18, 2026) if the ballot is to be issued to the voter in person. Early mail and absentee ballots must be received by the office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the District Vote. A list of persons to whom early mail and absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter of the District in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., on the five (5) days preceding the day of the election or at the polling place on the day of the annual meeting and election, except Sunday.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that military voters, as defined in Section 122.2(f) of the Commissioner's Regulations, who are qualified voters of the District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk, located at 177 Central Avenue, Lancaster, New York, 14086 during business hours or by email at sschlegel@lancasterschools.org. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026. Military voters may designate their preference to receive the application and the military ballot by mail, facsimile or electronic mail.
