HENDRICK HUDSON CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THE TOWN OF CORTLANDT WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK NOTICE OF ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLIC HEARING AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION The Board of Education of the Hendrick Hudson Central School District, Town of Cortlandt, Westchester County, New York Hereby gives Notice that the school district election of the qualified voters of said school district will be held at the Frank G. Lindsey School, 57 Trolley Road, Montrose, New York on the 19th day of May, 2026, to vote by voting machine for the purpose hereinafter set forth. Polls for the purpose of voting will be kept open between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM. PROPOSITION #1 SCHOOL BUDGET AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that at such election voting will take place on the amount of monies required for the ensuing year for school purposes (the budget for 2026-2027), for the proposition set forth herein and for such other propositions as may hereafter be submitted for consideration of the voters of the District. A public hearing shall be held for the purpose of the discussion of the budget on May 6, 2026, at the Hendrick Hudson High School Cafeteria, 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose, NY 10548, at 7:00 PM. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public money, as well as the Exemption Report, listing every type of exemption granted, as provided in Real Property Tax Law Section 495, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District during the fourteen days immediately preceding the election, except Saturday, or Sunday, or Holidays, at each of the following schoolhouses in the District between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM: Hendrick Hudson Administration Building Hendrick Hudson High School Blue Mountain Middle School Buchanan Verplanck School Frank G. Lindsey School Furnace Woods School NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the School District between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM not later than April 20, 2026, the 30th day preceding the election. Petition forms are available at the Office of the Clerk of the District. The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: Terms Name of Last Incumbent 3 Years Amelia Silverman 3 Years Tomica Dietrich The vacancies on the Board of Education are not to be considered separate specific offices. The nominating petitions in each case do not describe any specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated. Candidates who receive a plurality of the votes cast respectively for the several offices are to be declared elected. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District and must state the residence of the candidate and the residence of each signer of the petition. Section 2032 requires that candidates for vacancies shall be arranged according to lot and the Clerk of the Board shall conduct the drawing on the date following the last possible date for candidates to file a petition. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the voters shall vote upon the following propositions: PROPOSITION #2 SCHOOL BUSES, VANS, VEHICLE AND RELATED EQUIPMENT NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a Bond Proposition in substantially the following form shall be presented to the qualified voters of the District at such Annual District Meeting and Election: BOND PROPOSITION RESOLVED: (a) That the Board of Education of Hendrick Hudson Central School District, in the County of Westchester, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized to undertake transportation improvements and/or acquisitions (the “Project”) to wit: (i) the purchase various school buses and vehicles for use by the District, at the estimated cost of $425,000 and (ii) the acquisition/installation of garage equipment, at the estimated cost of $350,000 and to expend therefor, including preliminary costs and costs incidental thereto and to the financing thereof, an amount not to exceed the estimated cost of $775,000, provided that the estimated costs of the components of the Project as set forth herein may be reallocated among such components if the Board of Education shall determine that such reallocation is in the best interests of the District; (b) that a tax is hereby voted in the aggregate amount of not to exceed $775,000 to pay such cost, said tax to be levied and collected in installments in such years and in such amounts as shall be determined by said Board of Education; and (c) that in anticipation of said tax, bonds of the District are hereby authorized to be issued in the principal amount of not to exceed $775,000, and a tax is hereby voted to pay the interest on said bonds as the same shall become due and payable. Such Proposition shall appear on the ballots used for voting at said Annual District Meeting and Election in substantially the following condensed form: BOND PROPOSITION YES NO RESOLVED: (a) That the Board of Education of Hendrick Hudson Central School District, in the County of Westchester, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized to purchase various school buses and vehicles for use by the District and acquire/install garage equipment and to expend therefor an amount not to exceed the estimated cost of $775,000; (b) that a tax is hereby voted in the aggregate amount of not to exceed $775,000 to pay such cost, said tax to be levied and collected in installments in such years and in such amounts as shall be determined by said Board of Education; and (c) that in anticipation of said tax, bonds of the District are hereby authorized to be issued in the principal amount of not to exceed $775,000, and a tax is hereby voted to pay the interest on said bonds as the same shall become due and payable. PROPOSITION #3 FREE LIBRARY BUDGET Hendrick Hudson Free Library Budget Resolved, that the sum of $1,490,794 which is a $69,881 increase over the 2025-2026 request, raised by tax to be applied in support of the Hendrick Hudson Free Library which has been registered by the State Board of Regents in the State of New York which sum shall be raised by a levy of taxes on the taxable property of said school district. PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law, No person shall be entitled to vote at the Annual Budget Vote and Election whose name does not appear on the register of the School District, or who does not register as herein provided. Any person who has voted at any annual or special meeting or election during the four (4) calendar years prior to the year in which such register is being prepared, and has registered for such annual or special meeting or election need not register. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that any person, otherwise qualified to vote, who is currently registered for any general election, pursuant to Section 352 of the Election Law, shall be entitled to vote without further registration pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the register prepared pursuant to section 2014 of the Education Law and the Westchester County Voter Enrollment List encompassing the School District will be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the District in the Administrative Building; that same will be open for inspection by any qualified voter for the District between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM on each of the five days prior to the date set for election, except Saturday and Sunday. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Board of Registration will meet at the Administration Building, 61 Trolley Road, Montrose, New York between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM on Thursday, the 14th day of May, 2026, to prepare the register of the School District at which time any person will be entitled to have their name placed upon such register provided that at such meeting of the Board of Registration the person is known or proven to the satisfaction of such Board of Registration to be then or thereafter entitled to vote at the School Meeting of Election for which such register is prepared. No person shall be entitled to vote whose name does not duly appear upon the school register or the registration list furnished by the Westchester County Board of Elections for the election district encompassing the School District. Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the school District.
