Legal Notices NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF THE WESTFIELD ACADEMY AND CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual meeting and election (the “Annual Vote”) of the Westfield Academy and Central School District (the “District”), Chautauqua County, New York, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the School Gym Atrium located at 203 E. Main Street for the purposes of voting on the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, electing two (2) members of the Board of Education of the District (the “Board”), and transacting such other business as may be authorized by law. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a public hearing for the voters of the District on the 2026-27 budget will be held on May 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the District’s Large Group Meeting Room, 203 E. Main Street, Westfield, New York. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the election of members of the Board shall be held to fill two (2) at-large positions on the Board. The candidates receiving the two highest vote totals shall each be elected to three-year terms (commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029) to fill the vacancies created by the expiration, on June 30, 2026, of the terms of Kimberly Maras and Andrew Thompson. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that voting at the Annual Vote shall consist of the Board election, voting on the following propositions, and voting on any other propositions as may be authorized by law and the rules of the Board to be voted on at such time: PROPOSITION #1 – 2026-27 Budget Shall the following resolution be adopted? RESOLVED, that the budget for the Westfield Academy and Central School District (the “District”), Chautauqua County, New York, for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education, is hereby approved and adopted and the required funds therefore are hereby appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law. PROPOSITION #2 INITIAL FUNDING OF REPAIR RESERVE Shall the following resolution be adopted, to-wit: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education (the “Board”) of the Westfield Central School District, Chautauqua County, New York (the “District”) is hereby authorized to transfer $100,000 (during the 2025-2026 fiscal year of the District) from the District’s unallocated fund balance of the District to the District’s newly-established Repair Reserve Fund which is operated pursuant to General Municipal Law Section 6-d for purposes of paying for the cost of non-recurring repairs to District capital improvements and equipment. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Board of Education of this District will have prepared and completed a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required during the 2026-27 fiscal year for school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount for each. Such statement shall be completed at least seven days before the budget hearing at which it is to be presented and copies thereof shall be prepared and made available, upon request, to residents within the District during the period of seven days before the budget hearing and/or fourteen days immediately preceding the annual meeting and election, and may be obtained by any resident in the District at each school house in the District in which school is maintained during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on each day other than a Saturday, Sunday or holiday during the fourteen days immediately preceding the annual meeting and election, and in the District Office. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District shall state the residence of each signer, and shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Each petition shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of the District, Monday through Friday (except holidays) between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., but not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for early mail and absentee ballots may be obtained at the office of the Clerk of the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. A list of persons to whom early mail and absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the District Clerk’s office during each of the five days prior to the day of the election except Sundays, and such list will be available at the polling place during the Annual Meeting. No early mail or absentee ballot will be canvassed and counted unless it is received in the office of the District Clerk prior to 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2026. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that military voters who are qualified voters of the District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate a preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile, or electronic mail.
