LEGAL NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Melbourne City Council, Brevard County, Florida intends to adopt the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE NO. 2026-03
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MELBOURNE, BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO APPORTIONMENT OF CITY COUNCIL DISTRICTS; MAKING FINDINGS; AMENDING CHAPTER 22 OF THE CITY CODE, ENTITLED ELECTIONS; ADOPTING NEW MAPS AMENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF CITY COUNCIL DISTRICTS TWO, FIVE AND SIX; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND INTERPRETATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING AN ADOPTION SCHEDULE.
The ordinance will be considered for adoption by the City Council at its February 10, 2026 meeting in the Council Chamber, Melbourne City Hall, 900 E. Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne. The City Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Contact the City Clerk if you would like to inspect a copy of the ordinance. Interested parties may appear at this meeting and be heard with respect to the adoption of the ordinance. Written comments may be submitted at or before the meeting. Address correspondence to the City Clerk, 900 East Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901, or e-mail city.clerk@mlbfl.org. The public hearing may be continued from time to time.
Pursuant to Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, the City hereby advises the public that: If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Council with respect to any matter considered at its meeting or hearing, he will need a record of the proceedings, and that for such purpose, affected persons may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing special accommodation to participate in this meeting should contact the City Clerks Office (321-608-7220) at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
