Proclamation – Notice of Primary ElectionThe Board of Elections of Erie County, Ohio, issues this Proclamation and Notice of Election. A Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the usual places of holding elections in each precinct in Erie County, or at such places as the Board may designate, to nominate partisan candidates for the General Election, and to select members of the controlling committees of political parties. Voters will decide the following issues: City of Huron – Additional levy for the purpose of providing for fire protection and EMS that the auditor estimates will collect $513,357 annually, at a rate not exceeding 1.5 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $53 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's market value, for a continuing period of time, commencing in 2026, first due in 2027. Village of Kelleys Island – Resort area tax increase from 1.5% to 2.0% Huron Township – Additional levy for the purpose of providing for fire protection and EMS that the auditor estimates will collect $436,229 annually, at a rate not exceeding 1.5 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $53 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's market value, for a continuing period of time, commencing in 2026, first due in 2027. The polls for the election will open at 6:30 a.m. and remain open until 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
