LEGAL NOTICE Port of Tacoma, P.O. Box 1837, Tacoma, WA 98401, is seeking coverage under the Washington State Department of Ecology's Construction Stormwater NPDES and State Waste Discharge General Permit. The proposed project, Hylebos Marsh Interim Action, is located at 1205 Alexander Ave, in Tacoma in Pierce County. This project includes grading, filling 15.97 acres required to eradicate an invasive snail species through habitat removal, as well as comply with MTCA cleanup standards. During filling/grading activities described above, a containment cell will be installed to cap an area of existing contamination. Approximately 6,650 cubic yards of fill material will be used to grade and cap the contaminated area. Remedial activities are pursuant to Taylor Way and Alexander Avenue Fill Area (TWAAFA) Site (Agreed Order No. DE 14260) and Ecology Enforcement Order DE 19410. Any persons desiring to present their views to the Washington State Department of Ecology regarding this Application, or interested in Ecology's action on this Application, may notify Ecology in writing no later than 30 days of the last date of publication of this notice. Ecology reviews public comments and considers whether discharges from this project would cause a measurable change in receiving water quality, and, if so, whether the project is necessary and in the overriding public interest according to Tier II anti-degradation requirements under WAC 173-201A-320.
