NOTICE OF PROPOSED ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1272 OF THE CITY OF BREA, AMENDING THE BREA CITY CODE TO REESTABLISH PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON PUBLIC STREETS FOR STREET SWEEPING PURPOSES PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on April 7 2026, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Council Chambers, Level One, Brea Civic Cultural Center, 1 Civic Center Circle, Brea, California, the City Council of the City of Brea will consider adopting its Ordinance No. 1272 entitled “An Ordinance of the City of Brea Amending the Brea City Code to Reestablish Parking Restrictions on Public Streets For Street Sweeping Purposes and Approving a CEQA Exemption Determination.” A summary of this Ordinance follows: A summary of Ordinance No. 1272 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREA AMENDING THE BREA CITY CODE TO REESTABLISH PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON PUBLIC STREETS FOR STREET SWEEPING PURPOSES AND APPROVING A CEQA EXEMPTION DETERMINATION In 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2009-64 establishing parking restrictions on public streets for street sweeping purposes. Vehicle Code Section 22511.5 permits disabled persons displaying special license plates or a distinguishing placard to park in certain parking restricted areas, including any parking zone that is restricted as to the length of time parking is permitted as indicated by posted signage. This Ordinance reestablishes and codifies, with amendments to protect accessibility for disabled persons, the parking restrictions established by Resolution No. 2009-64. The Ordinance prohibits parking on City streets from 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., on the City streets, or portions thereof, and on those days, as are set forth in a resolution of the City Council and following posting of signs. Subject to certain exceptions, the Ordinance exempts from its prohibition, any disabled person or disabled veteran displaying special license plates or a valid disabled person placard. Violations are punishable by a fine as set by Council resolution. Lastly, the City Council finds that adoption of the Ordinance is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines. A certified copy of the entirety of the text of Ordinance No. 1272, is available in the office of the City Clerk, Brea Civic and Cultural Center, 1 Civic Center Circle, Brea, California, and is available for public inspection at that location.
