Full Notice Text
PUBLIC NOTICE IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER The City of Livingston Water Supply Contains Levels of 1,2,3- Trichloropropane Above the Drinking Water Standard Our water system violates a drinking water standard that was recently adopted by the State Water Resources Control Board. Although this is not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what you should do, what happened, and what we are doing to correct this situation. We routinely monitor for the presence of drinking water contaminants on a quarterly basis. For the 1st Quarter of 2026 water sample results from January 2026 indicates that the City's raw water supply contains 1,2,3-TCP in concentrations ranging from .029 µg/l to a .45µg/l. These concentrations are above the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for 1,2,3- TCP of 0.000005 mg/l (milligrams per liter) which is equivalent to 0.005 µg/l (micrograms per liter). The City will continue conducting quarterly monitoring until treatment is installed at all the active sources. Customers will receive quarterly notices with updates on the progress being made until compliance with the 1,2,3-TCP MCL is achieved. What should I do? You do not need to use an alternative water supply (g., bottled water). This is not an emergency. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. However, some people who drink water containing 1,2,3-TCP in excess of the MCL over many years may have an increased risk of getting cancer. If you have other health issues concerning the consumption of this water, you may wish to consult your doctor. What happened? What is being done? The City is working diligently towards the construction of treatment systems that will remove 1,2,3-TCP from the water supply. We anticipate resolving the 1,2,3-TCP violation by the end of year December 2028.
