CITY OFPALOSVERDESESTATESINCORPORATED 1939CALIFORNIANOTICE OF ELECTION AND FINAL DATE FOR FILING ARGUMENTS FOR OR AGAINST A CITY MEASURE TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF PALOS VERDES ESTATESON JUNE 2, 2026NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Municipal Election will be held in the City of Palos Verdes Estates on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, to submit to the voters the followingmeasure:CITY OF PALOS VERDES ESTATESINTIATIVE MEASURE TO ENACT A CITY SPECIAL TAX TO FUND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICESShall the measure to maintain the City of Palos Verdes Estates Police Department and fire protection/emergency medical services provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Protection District; maintain emergency response times/police patrols, home burglary prevention patrols; prepare for wildfires by reducing fire risk; by extending the City of Palos Verdes Estates parcel tax for 10 years at the rate of $990 plus 67¢ per square foot of building improvements, generating approximately $16,200,000 annually, with annual adjustments, requiring citizen oversight committee, public spending disclosure/independent financial audits, be adopted?YESNONONOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the City Attorney will prepare an impartial analysis of this measure showing the effect of the measure on existing law and the operation of the measure. The impartial analysis must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026.NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the City Council, or any member or members thereof authorized by the City Council, or any individual voter or bona fide association of citizens, or any combination of voters and associations, may file a written argument for or against the Initiative Measure Arguments must be submitted to the City Clerk, 340 Palos Verdes Drive West, Palos Verdes Estates, California, 90274no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, which has been determined by the elections official to be a reasonable date based upon the time necessary to prepare and print the arguments and Voter Information Guide for the election.No argument shall exceed 300 words in length and must be accompanied by the printed name(s) and signature(s) of the author(s) submitting it, or if submitted on behalf of an organization, the name of the organization and the printed name and signature of at least one of its principal officers who is the author of the argument. One argument for and one argument against the Initiative Measure will be selected for printing and distribution to the voters with the sample ballot. Arguments may be changed or withdrawn until and including the final filing date fixed by the City Clerk. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that rebuttal arguments may be submitted by the authors of the opposing direct arguments no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026.
