The project is located between 0.3 to 4.9 air miles South of the central portion Redwood Acres Fairgrounds in Eureka CA. The legal description of the project area is Township 4 North, Range 1 West, Sections: 12, 23, 24, & 25; & Township 4 North, Range 1 East, Sections 07, 18, & 19; & Township 5 North, Range 1 West, Section 36; Humboldt Baseline and Meridian. The THP is within the Fields Landing (1979), McWhinney Creek (1972), & Arcata South (1972) USGS 7.5' topographic quadrangles. The THP drains to Bear Gulch, Unnamed Tributaries of Bear Gulch, West Fork Ryan Creek, Unamend tributaries of West Fork Ryan Creek, Ryan Creek, & Unnamed tributaries of Ryan Creek. Bear Gulch and West Fork Ryan Creek are tributaries of Ryan Creek. Ryan Creek is a tributary of Ryan Slough, a tributary of Freshwater Slough which is a tributary of Humboldt Bay.
