Option Care Health, Inc. (“Option Care”) recently learned of a data security incident, which involved the personal information of some of its patients. Option Care discovered that an employee’s email account was accessed without authorization. Upon identifying the issue, Option Care promptly initiated an internal investigation and took steps to contain the incident. Option Care also engaged a forensic cybersecurity firm to assist with the investigation and ensure the security of its email platform.The investigation determined that a third party accessed the email account between February 6, 2026, and February 9, 2026. Option Care reviewed the contents of the accessed account and on February 26, 2026, Option Care determined that the email account involved contained personal information. The information varied by individual, but may have included names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, and/or treatment information. To the extent it has current contact information, Option Care sent written notifications to individuals whose information may have been accessed. Individuals should refer to the notice they receive in the mail regarding steps they can take to protect themselves, should they feel the need to do so. As a precautionary measure, individuals may review their account statements and monitor credit reports and if they detect any suspicious activity on an account, they should promptly notify the financial institution or company with which the account is maintained. Individuals should also promptly report any fraudulent activity or any suspected incidents of identity theft to proper law enforcement authorities, including the police and their state’s attorney general. Involved individuals may also wish to review the tips provided by the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) on fraud alerts, security/credit freezes and steps they can take to avoid identity theft.
