PUBLIC NOTICE INTENT TO DESIGNATE AN AREA AGENCY ON AGING (AAA) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the California Department of Aging (CDA) intends to designate an Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for the Planning and Service Area (PSA) described below, pursuant to 22 CCR § 7206. 1. GEOGRAPHIC BOUNDARIES: This designation is for Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties/PSA 17. 2. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AAA: Under federal and state law (Older Americans Act and Mello-Granlund Older Californians Act), the designated AAA shall: Serve as the principal advocate and planning body for older adults and caregivers. Develop and administer a multi-year Area Plan on Aging with annual updates. Coordinate community-based services (e.g., nutrition, legal, and caregiver support). Manage federal/state funds and monitor service provider compliance. 3.
