PLANNING COMMISSIONPUBLIC HEARING NOTICEcity of san juan capistrano A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE HELD BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO ON WEDNESDAY, THE 25 TH DAY OF MARCH 2026 AT 5:00 P.M. IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER AT 25925 CAMINO DEL AVION, SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING ITEM: Code Amendment (CA) 26-002, Accessory Dwelling Unit Regulations: Consideration of an ordinance that would amend Section 9-3.501.1 (Accessory Dwelling Units) of the City’s Land Use Code to make the City’s existing regulations that govern Accessory Dwelling Units consistent with new state regulations. The Planning Commission will be making a recommendation to the City Council on this item. This project has been assessed in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the State and local CEQA Guidelines, and the environmental regulations of the City and the City’s Environmental Administrator has determined that the adoption of said ordinance is statutorily exempt from CEQA pursuant to section 21080.17 of the Public Resources Code whereby the proposed Code Amendment relates to Accessory Dwelling Units and implements the requirements of Government Code 65852.2, and CEQA does not apply to the adoption of an ordinance by a city to implement the provisions of Government Code Sections 65852.2. The public is invited to attend the Planning Commission meeting to provide comments on the item described above. The public may submit agenda item correspondence to the Planning Commission electronically. Material may be emailed to Planning Commission Secretary Joel Rojas at jrojas@sanjuancapistrano.org at least two hours prior to the start of the meeting. If the City’s action on this item is challenged in court, the public may be limited to raising only those issues which were raised at the public hearing, or in written correspondence delivered to the Commission at, or prior to the hearing.
