Happy Valley School District NOTICE TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE HAPPY VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY OF A VACANCY ON THE GOVERNING BOARD TO SAID DISTRICT AND OF A PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT TO FILL SAID VACANCY 1. On March 6, 2026, a member of the Governing Board of the Happy Valley School District filed a resignation with the Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools, thus creating a vacancy on said Board, effective March 6, 2026. 2. On April 22, 2026, the Governing Board of Happy Valley School District provisionally appointed Michelle Yegge to fill said vacancy. Michelle Yegge is hereby vested with all of the powers and shall perform all duties of a governing board member. On May 22, 2026, this provisional appointment will become final unless 30 days of this provisional appointment at least 5% of the registered voters of the District, who voted in the last regular election of Governing Board members, petition for the vacancy to remain open until it can be filled in a special election to be held on a date to be determined. Said petition is to be filed with the Office of the Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools. 3. This notice is given pursuant to Section 5092 of the Education Code and Section 9, Statues of 1979 of the State of California.
