NOTICE OF APPLICATION
The Department of Environmental Protection announces receipt of an application for permit from Life Soils Florida LLC to construct and operate Life Soils Newberry Compost Facility. The proposed project is a Type 1 Biosolids Management Facility designed to produce Class AA compost. The facility will utilize a Modified Static Aerobic Pile (MSAP) composting method. It will be located on approximately 15 acres within the southern quadrant of a 55-acre parcel. The facility will have the capacity to accept up to 78 dry tons of biosolids per day and 326 dry tons of green waste per day, sourced from various municipal facilities. The maximum total compost production is projected to be 404 dry tons per day. The proposed project is located at latitude 29 37' 44.56" N, longitude 82 37' 16.71" W on 2429 Southwest 266th Street, Newberry, Florida 32669 in Alachua County. The Department has assigned permit file number FLAB07588-001-DW1S to the proposed project.
This application is being processed and is available for public inspection during normal business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays, at the Department's Northeast District Office, 8800 Baymeadows Way West, Suite 100, Jacksonville, Florida 32256-7590, at phone number (904) 256-1700. Any comments or objections should be filed in writing with the Department at this address. Comments or objections should be submitted as soon as possible to ensure that there is adequate time for them to be considered in the Department's decision on the application.
