Public hearing on ordinance for D.R. Horton tax exemption scheduled for May 5, 2026.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND INTENTION 
TO ADOPT ORDINANCE


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners of Polk County, Florida (the "Board") will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard in the Boardroom of the County Administration Building, located at 330 West Church Street, Bartow, Florida, to consider adopting an ordinance amending Polk County Ordinance No. 2024-015, the Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption for D.R. Horton, Inc. The title and substance of the proposed ordinance that will be considered by the Board is:


An ordinance amending Polk County Ordinance 2025-015, the Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption for D.R. Horton, Inc.; amending the definition of Exemption Period; amending the effective date of the D.R. Horton Tax Exemption; amending the expiration date of the Ordinance; providing for severability; and providing an effective date.


The proposed ordinance may be inspected by the public at the Office of the Clerk and Auditor to the Board, located in the County Administration Building on the 3rd floor, during normal business hours. All persons wishing to speak upon the adoption of this ordinance are invited to attend the public hearing and they shall be heard.


Should any person decide to appeal any decision made at this public hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence on which the appeal is to be based.
