NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT OF PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO EXISTING SCHOOL BOARD POLICY The School Board of Alachua County, Florida, gives notice of the development of amendments to an existing policy as shown in the subject area listed below. Date and Time: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 6:00 p.m. First Reading Location: Board Room, School Board District Administration Office, 620 University Avenue, Gainesville, FL The meeting may also be broadcast on a video screen outside the Boardroom, on the Districts website and/or Cox Channel 12. SUBJECT AREAS PROPOSED RULE AMENDMENTS Elementary Code of Student Conduct; Secondary Code of Student Conduct; Student Progression Plan; Policy 5410 Student Progression; and Policy 5500 Student Conduct. PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose is to provide for amended rules to incorporate by reference amendments to the Student Progression Plan for 2026-2027, amendments to the Elementary Code of Student Conduct and the Secondary Code of Student Conduct for 2026-2027; conform rules to current legislation; and eliminate redundant and obsolete language. The effect is that the rules will be current and easier to understand. Rulemaking Authority: Fla. Stat. 1001.32; 1001.41; 1001.42, 1001.43, 1003.02; 1006.07; 1006.08; 1008.25. The text of the preliminary drafts may be viewed on the Board Agenda Website, https://alachuaschools.net/boardmeetings, under the April 21, 2026 agenda or obtained without cost from the Office of the Superintendent, 620 East University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32601, (352) 955-7880. There are several ways in which citizens could offer their input on these items: meeting (include the phrase Policies/Code/SPP 4-21-26 in the subject line); or 2) go to the Board Room to offer input in person during the meeting. Speakers must complete a form and submit it prior to the start of the meeting. Instruction can be found on the district website at https://www.alachuaschools.net/o/acps/page/publiccomment.
