Wayne Community School District May 13, 2026 Board Meeting Minutes The regular meeting of the Wayne Community School District was held May 13, 2026, at the Wayne Secondary Library. Board President Brandon Carpenter called the meeting to order at 5:31 pm. Board Secretary Allen called roll. Board Members Present: Tanner Kelly, Randy Downs, Kerry Mason, & Brandon Carpenter. Administrators Present: Elementary Principal Tonya Davis, Secondary Principal Stacy Snyder, Superintendent Mike Still, Board Secretary Christy Allen. Motion by Kelly, second by Mason to approve the agenda. Ayes: Carpenter, Downs, Kelly & Mason. Carried unanimously. Motion by Downs, second by Kelly to approve the consent agenda. The consent agenda contained: April 20, 2026 Board Meeting Minutes. Resignations from Joel Petty - Assistant HS Football, & Lylliann Harris - Elementary Associate. May Bills, Prepaid and April Additional. May Financial Statements. Ayes: Carpenter, Downs, Kelly & Mason. Carried unanimously. Administrative Reports were given and became part of the permanent record. Motion by Downs, second by Kelly to approve the Wayne Pride Notes by Tonya Davis recommending: Kelsey Moran and her community helper team- spreading mulch in front of building and picking up sticks for Community Helper Day. ApriLeaders: Paisley Moore, Blaize Dodson, Bristyn Swan, and EvaDean Lear. Math Bee students: Aivley Harmon, Claire Coates, Brantley Lain, Paisley Moore, and Chael Rhoades. Battle of the Books: Claire Coates, Bryleigh Babbitt, Gracen Boggs, Brantley Lain, Hadley Harders, and Micah Palmer. Superintendent Mike Still recommended Desire Grismore, Garrett Abel. Director Mason recommended Justin Abel, Barb Rilea, and Brett Carpenter for their help with the end of year activities and graduation for the students. Ayes: Carpenter, Downs, Kelly & Mason. Carried unanimously. Directors Dodson and Mason agreed to review the June bills. Motion by Mason second by Downs to approve the contract for Drama Advisor Dylan Jones, Secondary Teacher Jackie Gunzenhauser, Elementary Associates Peyton Rhoades & Tammy Miller. Ayes: Carpenter, Downs, Kelly & Mason. Carried unanimously. Motion by Mason second by Downs to approve the 2nd reading of the 600 series school board policies. Ayes: Carpenter, Downs, Kelly & Mason. Carried unanimously. Motion by Mason, second by Downs to go into closed session at 6:54 pm for a review of the Board Secretary/Treasurer & Superintendent Evaluation per Iowa Code 21.5(1)(i). Roll call vote: Aye-Brandon Carpenter, Aye-Jared Dodson, Aye-Randy Downs, Aye-Tanner Kelly & Aye-Kerry Mason. The closed session ended at 8:42 pm. The next regular board meeting will be held June 15, 2026 at 5:30 pm in the Wayne High School Library At 9:00 pm Mason made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Downs.
