CITY OF KELLEY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, May 12, 2026
The City of Kelley regular Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Mayor Jackie Sapp. Roll Call: Present: Ben Adams, Tim Salasek, Brendan Burtnett, Alex Lundgren and Ron Finch. Absent: None.Also present: Jaeda Davies ? City Clerk: Garret Davies - public works.
Motion was made by Admas, seconded by Burtnett, to approve the consent agenda. Those items approved include the Agenda for May 12 2026; minutes from April 14th & 15th, 2026 meetings; claims for a total of $28,535.56 paid which includes payroll expenses. Motion approved with a vote of 5-0.

The Sheriff Office reported that they are hiring. We had a spokesperson from Story County Community Foundation come and talk. We also had a resident concerned about certified letters being sent out.
Motion was made by Lundgren and seconded by Burtnett to open the public hearing on the proposed Budget Amendment #3 at 7:10pm. All Ayes. Davies reported no written or verbal questions, comments, or concerns have been received at City Hall regarding the proposed Budget Amendment #3 prior to this public hearing. Motion was made by Adams and seconded by Burtnett to close the public hearing at 7:11pm. All Ayes. Motion was made by Adam, seconded by Burtnett, to approved Resolution #21 (2025/2026): Adoption of FY Budget Amendment #3. All Ayes.
Motion was made by Salasek and seconded by Burtnett to approve the update to our website. All Ayes.
Motion was made by Adams and seconded by Lundgren to waive the 2nd reading and hold the 3rd reading of Ordinance 198: Temporary Yard Meters. All Ayes.
Council discussed forming a group to set up a disaster committee.
Council tabled the discussion of Sewer Pumps until next meeting.
Council discussed Junk Properties around town.
Council discussed Brush Pile to be discussed towards fall.
Motion was made by Adams and seconded by Burtnett to pay off the sewer debt to Ames. All Ayes.
Council tabled the discussion of Bulk Fuel Storage until next meeting.
Sapp reminded us that there is a cleanup day May 30th 8-12, she updated us on Solar Power Station.
Clerk updated council on Clerk school being June 15-18.
Motion was made by Adams and seconded by Burtnett to adjourn the meeting at 8:15PM. All Ayes.
