Stanwood city council CITY OF STANWOOD Stanwood City Council met in regular session on 5/13/2026, at 7:00 pm. Council present:Deppe, Siebels, Ganoe, Rottman & Knapp. Also present:Clerk Lasack, PW Tim Schultz, Sue Hall, Kaleb Galloway, Deputy Knoche & Keith & Marcia Stahl & Brock & Staci Wilson, Mike Gesling. Mayor Sawyer called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Roll call Consent Agenda:Motion by Rottman, seconded by Siebels to approve agenda as posted, prior minutes, claims, finance report. All ayes. Visitors- Scott Lawson- new agent for Stanwood. Introduction to council. Discussion on replacement costs and reviewed schedule of values. Scott has an email into the underwriter about values on water tower and sewer lagoons. ReportsMayor- Mayor Sawyer attended the Stanwood Lions Club meeting to discuss mayor role. Clerk/Zoning- Clerk Lasack started sending letters out for property clean up, budget was finalized. Code red contract ends in Aug, will send out notice on Code Red that the city will no longer be using and to subscribe to the city website for notifications. PWD:Schultz reported on getting cement blocks for salt shed, prepped new Christmas light for winter, Dan has been mowing, trimming and spraying weeds. Sheriff:Deputy Knoche reviewed report, 78 calls. Park:5 rentals for May. Rock was added along E Broadway in front of restrooms. Maglocks have arrived. Post has been repaired. Fire:5 calls for April. Firefighter one class coming up. Discussion on side-by-side purchase. Talks of different fundraising ideas. Library:N/A EMS:Report reviewed, Council:Fun Fest silent auctions were completed. Fun Fest will start sending our sponsor letters. New Business- Public hearing was opened at 7:48pm. Clerk reviewed the second reading of Ordinance 250, amending the water rates and the second reading of Ordinance 251, amending solid waste rates. No written or oral objections were received. Public hearing closed at 8:04pm. Motion by Ganoe, seconded by Knapp to approve the second reading of Ordinance 250. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion by Rottman, seconded by Siebels to approve the second reading of Ordinance 251. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion to waive third reading of Ordinance 250 and Ordinance 251, Motion by Knapp to waive third reading, seconded by Ganoe. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion by Ganoe, seconded by Rottman to approve tobacco license and change of ownership, all ayes. Motion by Deppe, seconded by Siebels to approve Adrianne Mcatee to oversee a Farmers Market in the green space across from City Hall June through Oct from 8-12., all ayes. Motion to approve bid from J & A Tree Service to complete tree removal and stump grinding, Motion by Siebels, seconded by Ganoe. Roll call vote, all ayes Old Business:Nuisance properties were discussed, Clerk Lasack received feedback from some letter recipients. Clerk will finish sending letters per council.
