NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TOWN OF BENTON Pursuant to 17 M.R.S.A. §§ 2851-2859 (Dangerous Buildings) You are hereby notified that the Municipal Officers of the Town of Benton, Maine will hold a hearing on 30 May 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lawrence Primary School, 68 School Drive, Benton, Maine to determine whether the building owned by U.S. Bank National Association, as Trustee for the Structured Asset Investment Loan Trust, Mortgage Pass-Through Certificates, Series 2005-5 and located on land owned by U.S. Bank National Association, as Trustee for the Structured Asset Investment Loan Trust, Mortgage Pass-Through Certificates, Series 2005-5 at 15 West Street, Benton, Maine and as more fully described in Foreclosure Deed recorded in Kennebec County Registry of Deeds at Book 15663 Page 342 and as shown on Map 23, Lot 04 of the current Tax Maps of the Town of Benton, Maine on file at 1279 Clinton Ave, Benton, Maine, is dangerous or a nuisance within the meaning of 17 M.R.S.A. § 2851. If the Municipal Officers find that the building/structure is dangerous or a nuisance, they may order appropriate corrective action, including but not limited to demolition and removal of the building/structure. If their order is not complied with by the deadline stated in their order and no appeal is taken, the Municipal Officers may take the corrective action at municipal expense and recover all expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees, by means of a special tax or civil action. This hearing is your opportunity to present evidence as to why the building/structure is not dangerous and to oppose any corrective action proposed by the Municipal Officers.
