SUFFOLK COUNTY PUBLIC NOTICE PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be held before the Town Board of the Town of Riverhead at Riverhead Town Hall, 4 West Second Street, Riverhead, New York, on the 18 th day of February, 2026 at or about 6:15 p.m. to Amend Chapter 279 of the Riverhead Town Code Titled “Taxation”, Enacting Article XI “Exemption For Surviving Spouses of Police Officers Killed in the Line of Duty”. The intent of the proposed legislation is to provide for an exemption from real property taxes imposed by the Town of Riverhead for surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty, subject to certain conditions. A copy of the entire text of the proposed local law and the provisions of the existing law to be amended may be reviewed at the Office of the Town Clerk, 4 West Second Street, Riverhead, New York 11901, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and can be accessed on the Town of Riverhead website at: www.townofriverheadny.gov under the Agenda and Minutes for the February 3, 2026 Town Board Meeting.
