The Board of Education of the East Hampton Union Free School District will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 5:15 p.m. After the meeting is opened to the public, the Board will immediately recess into executive session to discuss executive session topics until approximately 6:00 p.m. at which time they will reconvene into open session in the East Hampton High School Library, 2 Long Lane, East Hampton, New York. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Sections 466-a, 467 and 471 of the Real Property Tax Law of New York State, a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, 6:00 p.m. prevailing time at the East Hampton High School Library, located at 2 Long Lane, East Hampton, New York at which time and place the Board of Education of the East Hampton Union Free School District will hear comments from residents concerning: 1. A proposed tax exemption permitted under New York State Real Property Tax Law Section 466-a to create a partial tax exemption for surviving spouses of volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers killed in the line of duty; 2. A proposed expansion of the tax exemptions permitted under New York State Real Property Tax Law Section 467 to increase the senior citizen partial exemption to seniors with lower income levels; and 3. A proposed tax exemption permitted under New York State Real Property Tax Law Section 471 to create a partial tax exemption for surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty. The Board of Education is expected to consider a resolution to grant said expansion of the exemptions later in the meeting. The public hearing shall be held at the time and place stated herein.
