NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL DISTRICT
MEETING AND VOTE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual budget hearing for the qualified voters of the Fredonia Central School District, Chautauqua County, New York (the "District") will be held in the High School Library at the Main Street Campus, 425 East Main Street, Fredonia, New York, in the District, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM, prevailing time. Copies of the proposed District budget will be available for review at any District schoolhouse and at the District Office, 425 East Main Street, Fredonia, New York from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM between May 5 2026, and May 19, 2026, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual district meeting and vote (the "Annual Vote") will be by optical scanner for the purpose of voting on the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing school year, and any other propositions authorized to be voted upon by law and the rules of the Board. The Annual Vote will be held between the hours of 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the Cafeteria of Fredonia High School, 425 East Main Street, Fredonia, New York.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots to qualified voters are available at the District Office. Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk by, or prior to, 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on May 13, 2026, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or prior to 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on May 19, 2026, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on May 19, 2026. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the District Office during regular business hours on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote, except Saturday and Sunday, and such list shall also be at the voting place during the meeting. Any qualified voter may challenge the acceptance of the absentee voter's ballot of any person on such list, by making his challenge and the reasons therefore known to the Chief Election Inspector before the close of the polls.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that military voters who are qualified voters of the District may obtain applications for military ballots from the District Clerk's office. The military voter may designate a preference to receive the application and/or ballot by mail, fax or email. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk or her designee by no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Board will have prepared and completed a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money that will be required during the District's 2026-27 fiscal year for school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount for each. The amount of each purpose estimated as being necessary for payments to boards of cooperative educational services shall be set forth in full with no deduction of estimated State aid. Such statement will be available, upon
request, to residents within the District during regular business hours between May 5, 2026, and May 19, 2026, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, at each of the public schoolhouses of the District.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that voting at the Annual Meeting and Election will consist of voting on the following propositions, as well as other such matters that may be lawfully presented
Proposition No. 1
2026-2027 Budget
Shall the following resolution be adopted?
RESOLVED, that the budget for the Fredonia Central School District, Chautauqua County, New York, for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, as presented by the Board of Education, is hereby approved and adopted, and the required funds therefor are hereby appropriated, and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law.
Proposition No. 2
2026-2027 Budget
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
RESOLVED, that the term of office for members of the Board of Education of the Fredonia Central School District shall be reduced from five (5) years to three (3) years, effective July 1, 2027, and that this reduction in the term of office for members of the Board of Education shall be implemented consistent with Education Law § 2105.
