The PROPOSED BUDGET for the School Year 2026-2027 and the BUS PURCHASE RESOLUTION, will be reviewed, as well as the transaction of such business as is authorized by Education Law. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the time of the VOTING on the Annual Budget, the Bus Purchase Resolution, and the Election of three Board Members shall be Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM (Noon) through 9:00 PM in room 107 (CSE suite) located in the Main Building, 1 Park Street, Marathon, New York. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the election of members of the Board of Education and voting upon the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenditures may be done by qualified voters by means of an absentee ballot as provided by Education Law Section 2018-b and in accordance with policy 1640 of the Marathon Central School District. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained in the office of the Marathon Central School in the Village of Marathon, New York, by any resident during the fourteen days immediately preceding the budget vote, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the following Propositions will be submitted: Proposition #1 RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Marathon Central School District be authorized to purchase 4 diesel school buses (4-66/44 passenger) school buses at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $665,000 ; and that such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments; and in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed such estimated maximum aggregate cost shall be issued. AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of the Member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District not later than MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2026.
